Midnight rendezvous up at the attic
your heat met my electricity
and it was an awesome firework
sweeter than Fourth of July
Midnight rendezvous up at the attic
your heat met my electricity
and it was an awesome firework
sweeter than Fourth of July

A single rose withstanding
the winter’s sweet kiss
of icy dew and snowy drip
sipping wine by the light of the moon
so late into the night
staving off
a fear of another solitary slumber
momentarily basking
in silent reverie
staring at the bottom
of an empty glass
I dreamt of you almost every night
although I know
you are in a world too far away
a world of stardust, neon lights and moonbeams
a place far from mine
woke up and I realized I need to
look away to break the spell

I hope to hear an echo of your voice once again, so I sit alone in silence hoping to hear you. A faint sound or even a sigh from the wilderness, flutter of a dove’s wings or even a rustle from a falling leaf. Longing for a message from you or even a pale colored rainbow above the winter’s sky.
at times I feel like a gold fish
in a tiny fishbowl
swimming around all alone
seeking a place to rest
a sanctuary where there is
another soul to greet the new day
and endure the grueling walk
on the road called Life.
Let’s go for a walk on peppermint lane
sharing poached pears
and candy cane
simple delights on a merry night
wonderful time
delicious wine
red, white and rose’
loved ones in tow
friendships bestow
good tidings and joy
on my cheeks you planted a kiss
on a blissful night like this
As I walk away from the past
the dried up river banks
and sunflower patches
I’m turning my back on your
scented leaves and perfumed skin
with a heavy heart I will keep going
away from the heated past
that turned to ashes as cold as winter snow
You moved deeper and deeper into me,
my heartstrings pulled, my lips whetted.
Attention held.
My soul……… captured.
Many of us give our unsolicited advise to people when conversing with friends, coworkers, family members and even strangers we talk to at a check out stand at a local grocery stores. We say to them things like “go for it sign up for a cooking class, you never know you may meet your “Knight in a Shining Armor” . Some people also say things like, if I were you I will reconcile with my long lost friend… you never know when will be the last time you are going to see them”…
Today I heard that one of my friends closest cousin passed away unexpectedly, and no matter how I try to wrap my brain around to understanding what happened to her, I also am grappling with the words ” you never know”.
From now on, I am going to start keeping in-touch with friends and family members from outer State, or even friends living forty miles away. I will make sure I talk or text with them, even once or twice a month. Because you never know…
